I wanted to take the time to announce a new blog I have started on the site titled "A Jazz Notebook." I will be sharing practicing ideas and transcriptions for jazz musicians. You can subscribe to the RSS Feed on the right of the blog page to keep up to date with the latest entries.

I have updated the transcriptions page with a new Lester Young solo and updated the "Days of Wine and Roses" link with an article I wrote for Just Jazz Guitar magazine.

This week marks the official release of the Alex Smith Trio's debut record "A Taste." The CD was recorded in the summer of 2009 with Justin Carney on bass and represents a varied collection of songs and arrangements. I really enjoyed playing and recording with Alex and Justin and it is a thrill to have a CD that documents my playing during that period. You can hear more of the record at CD Baby.

I also posted some new lessons on Drop 2 and Drop 3 voicings, as well as a transcription of a great Bruce Forman solo. Be sure to check them out!
